I’m interested in booking the Hall for my event, what do I need to do next?
Please contact the Booking Secretary: hastoevillagehall2021@gmail.com or by calling 01442 768191, who will arrange to show you round and discuss your specific requirements. Costs for a four day wedding hire are from £2000 – £3000 depending on the season, otherwise there are hourly rates, details here. Final costs will depend on how much of the hall you need, whether you use the kitchen, and how many chairs/tables you want.
Do I have to use suppliers nominated by the Hall?
No, you may use whichever caterer etc you wish. We can provide you with a list of suppliers who are familiar with the Hall.
Does the Hall have chairs and tables?
Yes, there are 27 plastic trestles 6’ x 2’6’’ and 135 banqueting chairs with plum fabric. If you want round tables they will need to be hired in.
How much parking is there?
The Hall car park can accommodate up to 45 cars. It is important to be clear with your suppliers and guests where parking is allowed, particularly if some suppliers (e.g. band or disco) will be arriving during your event. Perhaps you want to have drinks outside? Then you won’t want large vans parked in front of the Hall. We have parking signs which you are welcome to use. Parking in the lane is not permitted. Overall, as Hastoe is relatively isolated, and there are no public transport links close by, you need to give careful thought as to how your guests are going to travel to and from the Hall.
Is there a local taxi service?
There are several local taxi firms which are familiar with the Hall. However, it is strongly advised that your guests pre-book these. We can give you details.
What lighting does the Hall have?
The Hall has up and down lighters that can be switched on/off in groups to give more or less lighting. If you want additional mood lighting there are plenty of power points round the main Hall which can be used for colour up lighters or other effects. You may use candles but they must be enclosed within a glass jar, and you are responsible for fire safety as set out in the Terms & Conditions.
Where can people smoke?
Please create a designated smoking area away from the building. All cigarette ends must be disposed of.
Do we have to pay for the electricity we use?
No, electricity is included in the hire cost.
How do we find out how the equipment in the Hall works?
Please nominate someone to take overall charge of your event/reception. We will brief this person on the usage of the Hall so they know how to operate the equipment. This might be your caterer if they are going to be on-site at all times.
Can I have fireworks?
Unfortunately not. There are animals in fields close to the Hall so Fireworks and Lantern launches are not permitted.
Is there a fridge/chiller/washing up machine?
There is a medium size fridge but no freezer or chiller. The washing up machine is a pub style machine designed principally for rapid rinsing of glasses.
Are there plates/glasses/cutlery?
There are a few items which may be available for small events. Otherwise, caterers are expected to bring all their own equipment, including table linen, and remove it at the end of the event.
What do we do with the rubbish and recycling?
Once the event is over it is your responsibility to ensure that the Hall is left clean and the site totally clear. You must remove all your rubbish and recycling. The Hall’s bins may not be used as the collections are fortnightly and they are needed for community events. Typically, caterers will take all catering waste but not bottles unless they have supplied them. We can advise about the nearest waste management sites. We ask you to be considerate when clearing up to ensure that local residents are not unduly disturbed.
What time do we need to leave the Hall on the night?
Any music must finish by the agreed end time for your event, normally 23.30. On the night, we ask you, your guests and any suppliers to vacate the site within half an hour of the end time. It is your responsibility to check with your band or DJ that they will comply with this and not over-run. This is for the benefit of our neighbours so they know what to expect from each hiring.
